Latin Name: Acheta domestica
Common Name(s): Brown Cricket, Commercial Cricket, Cricket

Aside from a variety of greens, vegetables, and fruit, Bearded Dragons require a suitable protein
intake and this is where crickets come in.  Especially in the first year of your Dragons life they should
be offered crickets daily!

Remember what you've read in the
Basic Care page that the size of crickets and other live prey
should be no bigger than the size of the space between their eyes turned sideways.  You graduate
your dragon up in cricket size as they become bigger and more mature.

The pictures to your right are not the actual size of the crickets!  It is just demonstrated to show you
the graduation process.
Those are the sizes that you can order to feed your Dragon.

The youngest baby beardie you should have purchased would have been 4-6 weeks of age or at minimum
6" long from
STL .  At that size they are safe to eat 3/8" to 1/2" crickets.

From 1 week old to 2 months old they should be offered crickets 2-3 times per day.  From 2 months old to 6 months old they should be
offered crickets twice a day.  6 - 12 months old they should be offered crickets once a day.  After a year they still may desire crickets daily
but their intake of crickets should begin to slow down.  When they are 1.5 years + I cut back their crickets to every 2 days and sometimes
depending on the Dragon to once a week.
Gravid females should be offered crickets daily and as many as she needs/wants.

Even for newborns I don't recommend feeding smaller than 1/4" crickets.  Anything smaller than 1/4" is honestly too small for them to see well
and a very big challenge to catch.  We are pleased to be your Southern Ontario Canadian Cricket Supply connection!
