Vedco Sanitary Antibacterial Disinfectant Cleanser
Vedco (chlorhexidine gluconate), the only EPA-registered chlorhexidine disinfectant, works against at
least 60 different bacteria, fungi, yeasts, and viruses. Chlorhexidine gluconate is non-corrosive, has
minimal to no skin irritation, and retains antimicrobial activity in the presence of organic matter. Vedco's
unique binding to skin proteins provides residual activity for as long as 2 days.
Chlorhexidine gluconate is a terrific disinfectant (bactericide, fungicide and virucide) An all purpose
cleaner that we now use at Exclusive Dragons. This product can be sprayed liberally over animals,
cages, bowls, husbandry tools, and even your own hands. Vets use chlorhexidine gluconate as a
mouthwash during surgery, and it can be used as a wound wash.
We use chlorhexidine gluconate to clean every cage, spraying moderately and wiping dry with a paper
towel, and we clean the water bowls with Vedco before refilling with fresh water as well. Much safer and
longer lasting than watered down Bleach solutions, and certainly safer than a commercial disinfectant,
Vedco's chlorhexidine gluconate will tackle everything from the cage glass, to the cage floor, to the
animal, to your grimy hands after. Also safe enough to treat mild frog and toad wounds, scratched
heads, sore lips, etc.
